The Taiwan Lottery Co. will add a total of NT$620 million (US$20.48 million) to the jackpots of four of its lottery games in celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on Sept. 10 this year, the company announced Wednesday.
For its most popular Lotto 6/49 game, an additional 100 prizes of NT$1 million each will be added to draws between Aug. 30 to Oct. 7, the company said in a statement.
Lotto 6/49 ticket holders can win an additional prize if the six numbers they pick match a different set of winning numbers drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays during the period, according to the company.
In addition, a one-off additional prize of NT$200 million will be added to a Power Lottery jackpot below NT$300 million drawn on Monday or Thursday during the festive period.
The rollover jackpot in this Thursday’s Power Lottery draw is expected to hit NT$270 million as there have been no winners for the last 14 draws, according to the company.
Meanwhile, jackpots in Taiwan Lottery’s low-stakes Bingo Bingo game will be increased for 16 days from Sept. 2, and the top prize for the company’s 39Mark5 game will be raised between Sept. 19 and Oct. 8.
In other news, Taiwan Lottery, which has been running the lottery since 2007, has been selected by the Ministry of Finance for a new 10-year service starting in 2024, it said.
The company is a subsidiary set up by CTBC Financial Holding Co. to handle the lottery operations that fund government spending on social welfare.
CTBC is also a part of the consortium picked by the government to operate Taiwan’s sports lottery between 2014 and 2023.
On Tuesday, the Ministry of Education said it will hold a meeting for companies interested in bidding to become the issuer of the sports lottery for the next 10 years from 2024.
