The Department of Industrial Promotion is pushing the Thai textile and garment industry to promote the Thailand Textiles Tag standard to build confidence among consumers under the Thai product standards. In 2024, 22 businesses and 34 products were certified.Mr. Phasakorn Chairat, Director-General of the Department of Industrial Promotion, revealed that the department has organized activities to develop the quality of textile products to meet the industry standards (Thailand Textiles Tag) since 2020 until now by integrating with the Textile Industry Development Institute to accelerate the upgrading of Thai textile products, both upstream, midstream and downstream, such as manufacturers of yarn, fabrics, ready-made clothing, home textiles and lifestyle products that have textiles as components by developing products with quality and standards, along with requesting certification under the Thai Textile Product Quality Symbol (Thailand Textiles Tag) that focuses on the quality of fabrics, color fastness and saf ety from chemical residues, including raw materials used and production processes that occur in Thailand (Made in Thailand).In 2024, there are entrepreneurs interested in applying for certification of the Thailand Textiles Tag and developing products until they are certified according to the criteria, totaling 22 businesses, 34 products, such as fabrics for printing and sewing into elephant pants and pants for different provinces, silk, hand-woven cotton, children's clothes, ready-to-wear clothes for both men and women, including bedding sets and sports clothes that have been developed with fabric structures that are cool to the touch, etc. It is expected that it will be able to create added economic value in the textile and bedding industry of not less than 50 million baht. In the past 5 years, there have been a total of 151 entrepreneurs and products that have received certification of the mark, totaling 271 products, which is expected to create added economic value of not less than 20 percent per year, t otaling not less than 180 million baht.Source: Thai News Agency
