Rain around Taiwan as frontal system passes
Taiwan's northern and eastern areas will receive rainfall on Monday as a frontal system passes across the island, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said.
There will also be occasional showers in the south, the CWB added.
The bureau said that with the arrival of the new weather front temperatures will fall around the country, with a daytime high of 26-27 degrees Celsius in the north as well as Yilan and Hualien counties in the east and 28-30 degrees in the south and Taitung County, southeastern Taiwan.
The mercury will fall to a low of 21-22 degrees Celsius, the CWB said.
In addition, western parts of Taiwan proper and the outlying counties of Matsu, Kinmen and Penghu will be prone to low-altitude clouds and occasional fog until Tuesday, the CWB added.
Expecting the northeasterly wind to become stronger on Tuesday, the CWB forecasts the temperature will continue to drop to a low of 18 degrees Celsius in northern areas on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by central Taiwan on Thursday and Friday as the wind moves southward.
