Taipei, A passing weather front is expected to bring rain, possibly with thunder, to Taiwan on Tuesday, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said.
The chance of rain is forecast at 70-90 percent in Yilan County, Keelung, the Greater Taipei area and Taoyuan, 60 percent in Hualien, and 30-50 percent in the rest of the country, the bureau said.
With rain bringing cooler weather, daytime highs will drop to 26-29 degrees Celsius in central and northern Taiwan as well as Yilan and Hualien, with lows of under 20 degrees at night, according to the CWB.
Not much change, however, is expected in southern Taiwan, the bureau said.
While the rain will gradually ease Wednesday, northern Taiwan will see daytime temperatures hovering around 20 degrees as seasonal northeasterly winds strengthen, it said.
The winds are expected to begin to weaken on Saturday, the bureau said.
