Registration for digital stimulus vouchers by Oct. 29 to get bonus

People who have registered or register for the government-issued NT$5,000 digital stimulus vouchers by Oct. 29 will receive a separate NT$500 (US$17.87) Foodlover voucher and be entered into a drawing to win prizes, Economic Affairs Minister Wang Mei-hua (???) said Thursday.

The Foodlover vouchers can be used to buy food and beverages at restaurants, night markets, and food stalls.

A new round of government-issued stimulus vouchers, valued at NT$5,000 each, will be available starting Oct. 8 to the public as a way of stimulating the nation’s domestic economy which has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The stimulus vouchers valued at NT$5,000 will be offered in either print or digital format to Taiwanese citizens, their foreign or Chinese spouses, holders of Alien Permanent Resident Certificates, and diplomats.

The digital vouchers could be used at retail businesses via digital payment services such as credit cards, mobile wallets, and electric cards.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) had previously said that Foodlover vouchers with a face value of NT$500 would be awarded to the first 4 million people who register for digital stimulus vouchers in order to encourage the public to use digital vouchers.

As of Thursday, 3.99 million people had already registered for the digital stimulus voucher, according to the MOEA.

Wang then announced Thursday that everybody who signs up for digital stimulus vouchers by Oct. 29 can receive the NT$500 Foodlover voucher and also be automatically entered into a raffle to win a slew of prizes such as smart electric bicycles and accommodation vouchers from Evergreen Plaza Hotel Tainan, with winners to be revealed Nov. 5.

The stimulus vouchers and the Foodlover vouchers will become available for use on Oct. 8.

Some food and beverage stores have rolled out promotions and special offers for Foodlover voucher holders. Detailed information is available on the MOEA’s Foodlover website at foodlover.tw.
