Taipei, Sandwiches, hamburgers and dan bing -- a type of pancake combined with egg -- are the three types of breakfast foods most often purchased by Taipei residents, according to a survey released Monday by Taipei City's Department of Health.
The survey also found that the top consideration of the respondents in Taipei related to sanitation and hygiene when choosing breakfast food is whether breakfast store staff wear surgical masks.
However, current regulations only mandate that workers afflicted with disease or acute upper respiratory tract infections must wear a mask, said Wang Ming-li (director of the department's food and drug division.
The survey results could serve as reference for breakfast store chains to improve their service standards, Wang said.
Commissioned by the city department, the survey was conducted online from April 1 to 21 with 1,704 valid questionnaires collected, including 574 from Taipei residents.
The poll mainly questioned women aged 30-39, according to Wang.
