Taipei-Tropical Storm Guchol is expected to weaken, so that the chances of land warnings are slim, with sea warnings expected to be lifted by Thursday afternoon, a Central Weather Bureau (CWB) forecaster said Wednesday.
Guchol's periphery might cause sporadic rain in areas of Taiwan between late Wednesday and Thursday, when the storm is closest to the island, according to Lin Po-tung (???).
As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, Guchol was approximately 130 kilometers southwest of Taiwan's southernmost tip, Eluanbi, moving north north-west at 13 kph, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph and gusts up to 90 kph, CWB data showed.
Guchol was traveling through the Bashi Channel, threatening the area around the Taiwan Strait and the Pratas islands, the bureau said.
