Cooler weather is expected in Taiwan from Dec. 14 under the effects of seasonal northeasterly winds, with northern Taiwan likely to see lows of 15 degrees Celsius, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Thursday.
Between Thursday and Dec. 12, temperatures could range between 19-24 degrees in northern Taiwan, 19-26 degrees in central Taiwan and 21-26 degrees in southern Taiwan, the bureau said.
The weather could turn slightly cooler the next day as the seasonal winds approach, with their effects most pronounced the day after that in northern Taiwan, according to the forecasters.
Highs that day could drop by 4 degrees to 19 degrees in northern Taiwan, while central and southern Taiwan might see the mercury between 17-23 degrees and 19-25 degrees, respectively, the CWB said.
However, Wu Der-rong (???), a meteorologist and adjunct associate professor of atmospheric sciences at National Central University, predicted that the winds could be strong enough to be defined as a cold air mass, warning of even colder weather.
