Taipei-The sunset will align with certain streets in Taichung next week, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Friday in a release detailing its fifth forecast of sun alignments across the country this year.
The bureau said the alignment in the central Taiwan city will take place between Monday and Friday on Jingguo Road in Dajia District, lasting Monday from 4:39 p.m. to 4:59 p.m. and two minutes later each day after.
The CWB will hold an event via its app to solicit photos of the view, including when and where they are taken, to improve its future setting sun alignment forecast abilities.
The setting sun alignment, which often takes place on east-west streets in the city, has drawn increased interest in recent years as local residents have shared the information online, attracting large numbers of photographers.
Similar events have taken place in Taipei and Kaohsiung, as well as Chiayi and Nantou in central Taiwan earlier this year, according to the CWB.
The CWB said it will continue to compile information from members of the public and run astronomical data to provide similar forecasts in the future.
