Taiwanese shipbuilder CSBC Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday with Geosea, a marine engineering company from Germany.
The two companies will collaborate on a series of projects, including marine and underwater construction, as well as personnel training.
The CEOs of both companies said they both hope to develop and expand offshore wind farms and to help foster local talent in Taiwan.
CEO of state-owned power company Taipower,Yang Wei-fu, also attended the signing. He said he hopes this collaboration will help transform Taiwan's energy mix. The current administration has set a goal of having renewable energy sources support 20% of Taiwan's electricity needs.
