China Airlines (CAL) said Tuesday that its flights to and from Shizuoka in eastern Japan later that day would be affected by Tropical Storm Malakas, which was headed toward the region.
Flights CI168 from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to Shizuoka and CI169 from Shizuoka to Taoyuan were to be postponed to 4:30 a.m. and 9:40 a.m. the following day, respectively, according to the airline.
As of 2 p.m., Malakas was centered 60 kilometers southeast of Osaka, moving at a speed of 48 kph in an east-northeasterly direction, according to the Central Weather Bureau.
With a radius of 150 km, the storm was carrying maximum sustained winds of about 101 kph, with gusts of up to 126 kph, according to bureau data.
