Taipei--It will remain sunny and partly cloudy in most of Taiwan proper and the outlying islands of Kinmen and Matsu, with chances of showers in some parts of western and northeastern Taiwan, as well as some mountainous regions in the afternoon, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Wednesday.
The CWB said rapid precipitation often accompanies afternoon thunderstorms, and it warned the public to be on guard against changeable weather, especially in mountainous areas and riverside areas.
Temperatures will tend to be high, with the mercury falling between 33-35 degrees Celsius, the CWB said, urging the public to protect themselves against the sun and to stay hydrated to avoid heatstroke.
Meanwhile, meteorologist Wu Der-rong (???) said the mercury could rise higher on Thursday and Friday, with the possibility of reaching 36-37 degrees in urban Taipei between Thursday and Saturday.
