Taipei, Police on Saturday arrested a 30-year-old man who allegedly strangled his girlfriend to death, dismembered the body and threw it into a field in Tainan.
The man confessed to police that he had strangled the 42-year-old woman during an argument over their relationship on Jan. 8, according to the First Precinct of the Tainan City Police Department.
After killing the woman, he dissected the body into six pieces, which he stuffed into plastic bags and tossed into a field of tall grass in eastern Tainan, police said the suspect told them.
According to police, the woman's son on Jan. 24 reported her as missing, saying he had not seen her for days.
Police said they found the woman's remains in the field of grass on Friday and also found her car abandoned on the side of the road in eastern Tainan.
At the time of her death, she and her boyfriend had been living together in an apartment in Tainan, according to police.
The man has been arrested and will be handed over to the Tainan District Prosecutors Office, pending an autopsy on the victim's body, police said.
