The sea warning for Tropical Storm Kompasu could be lifted before noon Tuesday if it continues on its current projected path, according to Taiwan's Central Weather Bureau (CWB).
Kompasu is currently near the Philippine island of Luzon and passing through the Bashi Channel south of Taiwan, CWB forecaster Hsieh Pei-yun (???) said.
The effects of the tropical storm have already brought continuous rainfall to Hualien and Taitung counties in eastern Taiwan since 3 p.m. Monday, Hsieh added.
Yilan County is also being drenched by the torrential rain, which means accumulated rainfall of more than 200 millimeters in 24 hours, or 100 mm in a three-hour period, she explained.
