Taiwan donates digital equipment to Ukraine

Digital devices and power generators were donated by Taiwan to Ukraine Jan. 15, underscoring the commitment of both the public and private sectors to assisting the East European country rebuild its education resources.

Coordinated by the Ministries of Digital and Foreign Affairs in conjunction with New Taipei City-headquartered Acer Inc. and Ukrainian Catholic University, the donation follows Digital Minister Audrey Tang’s recent visit to Lithuania where she announced the moda’s participation in a Lithuanian-led reconstruction plan for Ukraine.

During a virtual address at the donation ceremony, Tang said that technology has the power to build a better future for the population and politics should never stand in the way of cooperation. That was the reason she signed the Declaration for the Future of the Internet on behalf of Taiwan alongside 60 partners, including the U.S. and Ukraine, in April 2022, she added.

According to Tang, the spirit of collaboration, openness and positivity contained in the declaration are manifested in the Taiwan Can Help Free the Future partnership between the moda and Lyceum Grono school in Lviv. As freedom- and democracy-loving people, it is hoped that this will be one of many partnerships between Taiwan and Ukraine, she said.
