Taipei: Aerospace Industrial Development Corp. (AIDC) on Friday welcomed an Estonian delegation at its drone production line, aiming to deepen cooperation with the Baltic nation, according to a Saturday news release.
According to Focus Taiwan, the delegation was led by Estonian lawmaker Kristo Enn Vaga, chairman of the Estonia-Taiwan Support Group of the Parliament of Estonia. It included lawmaker and former defense minister Kalle Laanet, as well as representatives from several Estonian defense industry companies. The visit was organized by the Taiwan Excellence Drone International Business Opportunities Alliance (Tediboa), highlighting the potential for collaboration in various technological fields.
AIDC Chairman Hu Kai-hung, who also leads Tediboa, remarked on Estonia's strengths in digital technology, drone application, and defense technology. He suggested that combining these strengths with Taiwan's comprehensive supply chain could create significant synergy, enhancing technological and defense capabilities for both countries.
The alliance emphasized that despite the geographical distance, Taiwan and Estonia share similar experiences in democratic development, fostering shared values on constructing a democratic supply chain. Established by the Ministry of Economic Affairs in September 2024, Tediboa currently boasts over 160 members, working collaboratively to strengthen the supply chain from upstream to downstream operations.
Hu elaborated on the alliance's strategy, which focuses on combining the expertise of each member to secure government-to-government orders and to build a domestic "non-red supply chain." AIDC plays a crucial role in counter-drone system development, as well as providing assistance in drone production and testing, underscoring its commitment to innovation and international cooperation.
