Taipei: Taiwan's government on Tuesday expressed condolences on the death of Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, the eldest daughter of Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said President Lai Ching-te and Premier Cho Jung-tai have both conveyed condolences on behalf of the government and people of Taiwan through the country's representative office in Thailand.

According to Focus Taiwan, Deputy Foreign Minister Baushuan Ger also visited the Thailand Trade and Economic Office in Taipei on Tuesday morning to offer condolences and deliver a message of sympathy on behalf of MOFA. The ministry noted that the princess devoted her life to public service and held several important posts, including serving as Thailand's ambassador to Austria.

She was also recognized for promoting the status and welfare of women and disadvantaged groups. Following Thailand's declaration of a 15-day national mourning period, MOFA urged Taiwanese travelers in Thailand to observe local mourning customs as a sign of respect.

Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati died on June 11 at the age of 47 after spending more than three years in a coma.
