Taiwan Government-Funded Agency Deploys 37 Volunteers Overseas

Taipei: A Taiwan government-funded foreign aid agency has recently dispatched a group of 37 Taiwanese college students to the nation's diplomatic allies and friendly countries. These students are set to engage in technical and medical missions, as well as other volunteer services, as part of the agency's annual internship program.

According to Focus Taiwan, the 37 volunteers, hailing from 15 universities and colleges nationwide, embarked on their six-month internship programs starting August 20. Their destinations include countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, the Asia-Pacific, and Africa. This initiative is organized by the TaiwanICDF, under the "College Youth Overseas Technical Assistance Service Project."

Of the volunteers, 30 will be assigned to Taiwan's technical missions in allied countries. Three volunteers will undertake specialized roles in foreign language and multimedia, while the remaining four are tasked with teaching Chinese, as stated in a news release by TaiwanICDF.

The annual program, which began in 2019, is designed to send university students abroad to participate in technical and medical missions. This initiative aims to provide students with international experience while contributing to the development of partner countries, as explained by TaiwanICDF.
