TAOYUAN: The Taoyuan City government, co-organizer of the 2025 Taiwan Lantern Festival, announced Sunday that the event will highlight the city’s cultural diversity and ethnic heritage alongside its signature lantern displays.
According to Focus Taiwan, the festival is set to take place from February 12 to 23, featuring daily themed performances that celebrate Taoyuan’s blend of traditional and modern culture, excluding the opening and closing days. Over 80 performances are planned, showcasing Minnan, Hakka, Indigenous, and new immigrant cultures, as well as international acts from countries such as Japan, France, and the Philippines.
The festival’s lineup includes a variety of performances, ranging from orchestral music, traditional arts, sports demonstrations, to folk performances and global artistic showcases. On the opening day, a parade will commence at 1:30 p.m. in front of the A18 High-Speed Rail Station, featuring 19 performing groups, including the Philippine dance troupe Bailes de Luces and Kaohsiung-based Gift Box Theater.
Co-organized by the Taoyuan City government and the Tourism Administration, this edition marks the 36th occurrence of the festival. It is the first time in nine years that the event will be held in Taoyuan.
