Gumi: Taiwanese athletes won one silver and four bronze medals at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships in South Korea on Saturday. Taiwan ranked 14th overall by medal count.
According to Focus Taiwan, Lin Yu-tang clinched silver in the men's jump, while Chiang Ching-yuan, Yu Ya-chien, Lin Chung-wei, and Chen Cai-juan each secured bronze in the shot put, hammer throw, 400-meter hurdles, and heptathlon, respectively. Wang Ching-cheng, general secretary of the Chinese Taipei Athletics Association, praised the athletes for their efforts.
Wang emphasized that since the medal winners are still young, Taiwan has a promising future in athletics. He noted that although Lin narrowly missed a gold medal by just 2 centimeters, the total medal count for Taiwan surpassed that of the previous edition, indicating clear progress.
The Asian Athletics Championships, a biennial event organized by the Asian Athletics Association, took place from May 27 to 31 in Gumi, South Korea.
