Aichi-Nagoya:Taiwan Lin, a hurdler from Taiwan, clinched the bronze medal in the men's 400-meter hurdles at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Monday. This was one of four bronze medals Taiwan claimed during the event.
According to Focus Taiwan, Lin's performance marked the second consecutive day Taiwan secured a track and field medal, following Fu Chao-hsuan's gold in the men's high jump on Sunday. Lin advanced to the final with a time of 49.10 seconds, the second-fastest in the heats. He maintained a strong position among the leaders and was tied for second after the last hurdle, ultimately finishing third with a personal best of 48.74 seconds. The gold went to Qatar's Bassem Hemeida, who clocked in at 47.82 seconds, while Japan's Taiju Goto took silver with a personal best of 47.93 seconds. Taiwan's Chen Jian-rong finished fourth, also achieving a personal best of 49.25 seconds.
Lin's previous personal best was 48.77 seconds, recorded at a meet in Japan in May.
Taiwan's other bronze medals were won in badminton mixed doubles, table tennis men's singles, and the women's 25-meter pistol team event. In badminton, the pair Ye Hong-wei and Nicole Gonzales Chan lost their semifinal to China's Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin with scores of 21-13 and 21-9, earning Taiwan's first Asian Games mixed doubles badminton medal since 2010. In table tennis, Lin Yun-ju secured the men's singles bronze after a closely contested seven-game semifinal against China's Lin Shidong, ending with scores of 10-12, 9-11, 11-8, 11-9, 9-11, 11-6, 11-9.
In the shooting event, Cheng Yen-ching, Tien Chia-chen, and Chen Yu-ju combined for 1,734 points to achieve third place in the women's 25-meter pistol team event, finishing behind China and South Korea.
By Monday night, Taiwan's medal tally stood at three golds, seven silvers, and 23 bronzes.
