Bangkok, Taiwan's Public Television Service (PTS) and Thai Public Broadcasting Service (Thai PBS) have agreed to work together on the production of television programs, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Thailand said Thursday.
The agreement was made Wednesday, when PTS Chairperson Tchen Yu-chiou (???) and Taiwan's representative to Thailand Tung Chen-yuan (???) paid a call on Thai PBS Deputy General Director Sudarat Disayawattana Chantrawatanakul, TECO said in statement.
It said Chantrawatanakul will visit Taiwan at the end of the year, when a memorandum of understanding is expected to be signed between the two public television services on cooperation in the area of TV productions, TECO said.
In the press release, Tung was cited as saying that Thai audiences were impressed with Taiwanese television series such as Justice Pao and Meteor Garden.
Tung also suggested the production of television programs that feature religious festivals, saying that Buddhism is practiced by a relevantly large percentage of people in both Thailand and Taiwan, according to the press release.
