Taipei, Taiwan beat Mexico in the international championship game of the LLB Junior League Baseball World Series in Michigan on Sunday to advance to the final.
After its 10-0 win against Mexico in only five innings, the Taiwan team will be seeking to retain its world title in the LLB Junior League for the sixth time when it comes up against the United States regional champion Texas on Monday (Taiwan time).
The Taiwanese team, made up of players from Hsin Ming Junior High School in Taoyuan, secured a 4-0 victory in the first three innings of the game against Mexico and added six points to their score at the top of the fifth inning, ending the match 10-0 in the inning to finish earlier than scheduled.
The victory was attributed largely to starting pitcher Zeng Zih-you (???), who allowed only two hits by Mexico and finished with a walk and four strikeouts over the five innings. Zeng also performed well with the bat, which made him a key player in his team's 10-0 victory.
The Taiwanese team will play next against the U.S. Southwest champions from Lufkin, Texas, in the final of the world championship of the Junior League Baseball World Series.
The Texas team defeated the U.S. West champions from Manhattan Beach, California, 5-2, in the U.S. regional game Sunday.
The Taiwanese team has won the world championship of the LLB Junior League Baseball World Series five years in a row since 2013.
