Geneva, May 21 (CNA) Taiwan's Minister of Health Chen Shih-chung (???) and U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price held talks in Geneva Sunday, with the U.S. side reaffirming its support for Taiwan to take part in the World Health Assembly (WHA).
The talks, which Chen described as "pleasant and successful," took place a day before the 70th WHA was due to open. Taiwan cannot attend the meeting as an observer, as it did over the last eight years, because of China's obstruction.
During his meeting with Price that lasted 45 minutes, Chen invited Price to visit Taiwan, to which the U.S. official said he would take the invitation into careful consideration.
Price reaffirmed U.S. support for Taiwan to attend the WHA, the decision-making body of the World Health Organization, and said the United States would continue to work toward that goal, Chen told reporters after the talks.
