Taipei, The weather around Taiwan is expected to remain warm until seasonal northeasterly winds strengthen at the weekend, which will bring temperatures down by up to 10 degrees Celsius in parts of the country, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Thursday.
Daytime highs on Thursday, Friday and Saturday will hover around 30 degrees, reaching 32-33 degrees in central and southern Taiwan, the bureau said.
However, a cooler weather front will arrive and northeasterly winds will strengthen starting late Saturday, according to the CWB.
As a result, daytime highs on Sunday are expected to fall to 21-23 degrees in northern and northeastern Taiwan, and 24-27 degrees in central Taiwan as well as Hualien and Taitung in the east, with a chance of thunder showers in some areas, the bureau said.
The weather in southern Taiwan will see smaller changes, with daytime highs still reaching 28-30 degrees, it added.
The cool and rainy weather is forecast to continue into Monday and Tuesday as the front and northeasterly winds linger, the CWB said.
