Aichi-Nagoya:Lin Chung-wei secured a bronze medal in the men's 400-meter hurdles at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Monday, contributing to Taiwan's total of four bronze medals for the day.
According to Focus Taiwan, Lin's performance followed Fu Chao-hsuan's gold in the men's high jump the previous day. Lin entered the final with a time of 49.10 seconds, the second-fastest in the heats. He maintained his position among the leaders, finishing third with a personal-best time of 48.74 seconds. The event was won by Qatar's Bassem Hemeida in 47.82 seconds, while Japan's Taiju Goto took silver with a personal-best of 47.93 seconds. Taiwan's Chen Jian-rong finished fourth, also achieving a personal best of 49.25 seconds.
The other bronzes for Taiwan came in badminton mixed doubles, table tennis men's singles, and the women's 25-meter pistol team event. Badminton pair Ye Hong-wei and Nicole Gonzales Chan were defeated by China's Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin, resulting in a 21-13, 21-9 scoreline, marking Taiwan's first Asian Games mixed doubles badminton medal since 2010. In table tennis, Lin Yun-ju claimed a men's singles bronze after a tough semifinal against China's Lin Shidong, which went to the maximum seven games.
In shooting, Cheng Yen-ching, Tien Chia-chen, and Chen Yu-ju combined for 1,734 points to secure third place in the women's 25-meter pistol team event, finishing behind China and South Korea.
As of Monday night, Taiwan had accumulated three golds, seven silvers, and 23 bronzes at the Asian Games.
