Taipei, A Taiwanese-Italian couple said Friday they were pleased to design logos to illustrate Taiwan’s efforts to work with the international community in the fight against the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
Beni Chu (朱耀紅) and Stefano Misesti first designed an “Italy-Taiwan: healthy together” logo for the Italian Economic, Trade and Cultural Promotion Office, which was aimed at promoting bilateral exchanges in the field of health amid the COVID-19 crisis.
The logo shows two hearts leaning together, in colors that represent the national flags of the two countries — red, green, white and blue.
The couple later expanded that concept to another logo, which is being used by the Taiwan government on the packages of masks donated to the European Union.
For that campaign, dubbed “Taiwan-Europe #Stronger Together,” the two hearts are decorated in red, yellow, white and blue to depict the colors of the Taiwan and EU flags.
Chu, who along with her husband has been designing the logos free of cost, said it is a rare opportunity to contribute to the global COVID-19 relief efforts, using one’s expertise instead of making donations.
“We are glad to do our best,” Chu said, adding that she was also pleased to see Taiwan reaching out to other countries in need.
Taiwan’s actions not only help to push back against China’s suppression but also give Taiwanese more confidence, she said.
