Tokyo: The manga "The Banana Sprout vol.2" by Taiwanese mangaka Zuo Hsuan has won a silver award at the 18th Japan International Manga Award, the organizers announced on Thursday. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Zuo, whose previous work earned her a bronze prize at the 10th edition of the award.
According to Focus Taiwan, Zuo's award-winning story is set in 1930s Taipei and features two main characters with contrasting personalities studying at Taihoku High School, which is now known as National Taiwan Normal University. The narrative intricately explores the dynamics and interactions between these characters in a historical setting.
The recognition for "The Banana Sprout vol.2" underscores Zuo's progression in the manga industry, highlighting her ability to craft compelling stories that resonate with an international audience. Her previous work, "Summer Temple Festival I," had already set a benchmark, but this latest accomplishment showcases her evolving talent and storytelling prowess.
