Taipei A Taiwanese national has been arrested for attempting to smuggle 2.5 kilograms of cocaine worth 50 million yen (US$455,449) into Japan, the country's Sankei Shimbun newspaper reported Thursday.
According to the newspaper, police in Kansai disclosed a day earlier that the Taiwanese, a 51 year old woman identified as Hsu Chiu lien (???), was caught by Japanese customs officials upon arrival at Kansai International Airport Jan. 18.
She had apparently traveled from Colombia, transiting through the Netherlands.
During preliminary interrogation, she confessed to trying to smuggle the drugs into Japan, the report said.
