F¸rde: Taiwanese weightlifter Chen Wen-huei won a bronze medal in the clean and jerk in the women’s 69-kilogram division at the 2025 International Weightlifting Federation World Championship in F¸rde, Norway, on Tuesday. Chen lifted 132 kg in the clean and jerk and finished with a total of 232 kg, placing fifth overall.

According to Focus Taiwan, Chen successfully lifted 100 kg in her opening snatch attempt but failed at 104 kg and 105 kg. In the clean and jerk, she completed lifts of 127 kg and 132 kg before missing her final attempt at 136 kg. Her coach Huang Da-te mentioned that Chen was quite satisfied with her performance, as she is still adapting to her new weight category. He added that her lower back injury has not fully healed.

Huang said Chen will now focus on the National Games as she seeks a spot at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya. He also noted that new weight categories for the 2028 Olympics may be announced soon, which could lead to further adjustments. Chen previously competed in the 63 kg category at the 2018 World University Championships and went on to win three gold medals in the 64 kg category at the 2021 Asian Games.

She made her Olympic debut at the Tokyo Games in 2021, where she won bronze in the 64 kg category. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, she competed in the 71 kg division and finished sixth.
