Pan Zhongzheng, the convener of the rescue of the Taitan Algae Reef Action Alliance, held a press conference today (30), saying that the Academia Sinica found a lot of Chaishan multi-cup coral population growth under the trestle of the third LNG receiving station, and asked CNPC to stop construction. In the case of the third receiving station, Taiwan's CNPC responded as follows:
1. Taiwan PetroChina's Responsible Environmental Research Report, and asked the Central Group to provide an investigation report to Taiwan's CNPC as a comparative basis and reference for long-term monitoring in the region. Taiwan PetroChina continues to promote relevant conservation measures.
2. According to the previous survey data, the distance from the Chaishan multi-cup hole closest to the expected trestle pier position is about 60~70 meters. Taiwan PetroChina will, according to the EIA commitment, investigate and confirm the expected trestle pier before the trestle construction. If there is a multi-cup coral growth in Chaishan, the position of the pier and even the entire trestle will be adjusted to avoid the growth of the multi-cup coral in Chaishan.
Third, according to the EIA commitment, as the Taitan G1 and G2 areas will maintain the current situation, there will be no development activities. The breeding environment of the conservation wild animal Chaishan Duojiao Coral will not be destroyed. Taiwan PetroChina will also conduct regular activities. Multi-cup hole coral monitoring and phenology survey, to understand the relationship between life history and environmental factors and their survival, to make a contribution to the conservation of Chaishan multi-cup hole coral.
