Nagoya:Taiwan, competing under the name Chinese Taipei, has secured a total of 46 medals, which includes 4 gold, 14 silver, and 28 bronze, at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games as of 3:25 p.m. Friday.
According to Focus Taiwan, the Asian Games are being held in Japan's Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya, running from September 19 to October 4. Taiwan has a history of participation in the Asian Games dating back to 1954, accumulating a total of 586 medals€”118 gold, 164 silver, and 304 bronze€”up to the previous edition in Hangzhou, China, in 2022.
In the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, Taiwan achieved 19 gold, 20 silver, and 28 bronze medals, placing sixth overall. This performance equaled their best gold medal record set at the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games. The total of 67 medals won in Hangzhou also matched the numbers from the 2010 Guangzhou and 2018 Jakarta Games, ranking as the second highest in its history, following the 77 medals won in Bangkok in 1998.
For the 2026 edition, Taiwan has dispatched 482 athletes to compete across 34 sports. Notable participants include Lin Yun-ju and Cheng I-ching leading the table tennis team, and the boxing team featuring Huang Hsiao-wen, Lin Yu-ting, and Chen Nien-chin. In badminton, the team comprises five-time participant Chou Tien-chen and three-time participant Wang Chi-lin. The swimming team is spearheaded by Wang Kuan-hung, who previously won Taiwan's first Asian Games medal in the men's butterfly events at the Hangzhou Games.
