Taipei:Northeasterly seasonal winds are expected to keep northern and eastern Taiwan cool, while recent rainfall is anticipated to subside, as reported by the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
According to Focus Taiwan, the CWA forecasts temperatures in northern Taiwan and Yilan and Hualien counties to reach highs of 26-29 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, dropping to 22-24 degrees at night. In contrast, central and southern Taiwan, less affected by these winds, could see daytime temperatures rise to 30-34 degrees and fall to 23-26 degrees at night.
Data from the CWA indicated that temperatures in low-lying areas fell to 19.2 degrees Celsius in New Taipei's Shimen District, 19.7 degrees in Taoyuan's Yangmei District, and 19.8 degrees in Taipei's Nangang District due to the seasonal winds.
This weather pattern is expected to persist until early Thursday morning when the winds are forecast to weaken, leading to drier conditions as moisture levels decrease. Daytime temperatures are predicted to climb to 28-34 degrees on Thursday, with nighttime temperatures between 22-26 degrees.
The CWA also noted that temperatures might drop to around 20 degrees in low-lying mountainous areas due to radiative cooling from Wednesday through Friday. Independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong, referencing a European weather forecasting model, suggested that radiative cooling could even bring temperatures down to 16 degrees.
Moisture levels are expected to rise from Saturday, coinciding with the Republic of China's National Day holiday. This could result in sporadic showers on the windward sides of the Greater Taipei area and eastern Taiwan. The increase in moisture may slightly lower temperatures in northern Taiwan, while central and southern Taiwan are expected to remain warm and stable.
