Teco Secures Major Contracts for Data Center Projects in Malaysia

Selangor: Teco Electric and Machinery Co., a Taiwan-based electric machinery supplier, has successfully secured mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) contracts for hyperscale data center engineering projects in Malaysia, valued at approximately NT$1.17 billion (US$39.80 million). These projects mark the company's strategic entry into the hyperscale data center industry.

According to Focus Taiwan, the two data center projects are situated in Selangor and Johor Bahru, boasting a combined capacity of 178 MW. Teco Chairman Morris Li emphasized that these contract wins highlight Teco's technical expertise in hyperscale data center MEP engineering and demonstrate the capabilities of its Intelligence Energy Business Group in integrating and executing international projects.

Teco noted that Malaysia's emergence as a significant data center hub in Southeast Asia positions the company to expand its presence in the data center infrastructure market. The firm is recognized for its proficiency in MEP engineering and expertise in fiber connectivity for hyperscale data centers.

The company detailed that the project at the Elmina Business Park in Selangor involves the installation of server rooms and hyperscale fiber-optic communication infrastructure. Meanwhile, the Sedenak Tech Park project in Johor Bahru focuses on delivering fiber-optic solutions for hyperscale data centers.

Teco added that with global tech companies rapidly deploying hyperscale data centers in Southeast Asia, it aims to capitalize on market opportunities to secure additional contracts and expand its data center business. In Singapore, Teco has accumulated over a decade of experience in data center MEP engineering, providing integrated solutions with a total capacity exceeding 240 MW.

Furthermore, the Intelligence Energy Business Group is currently managing a landmark data center MEP project in Singapore, featuring the installation of the world's first 13,864-core hyperscale fiber-optic cable. Across Taiwan and Southeast Asia, Teco's total installed capacity for data center projects has surpassed 700 MW.

In addition to engineering solutions, Teco offers core MEP products crucial for data center construction, including modular solutions, high-efficiency motors, busways, generators, transformers, and switchboards.
