Taipei: Following the arrival of a continental cold air mass over Taiwan, regions north of Miaoli County are likely to see temperature lows drop below 10 degrees Celsius before Saturday daytime, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
According to Focus Taiwan, CWA forecaster Chang Cheng-chuan noted that northern Taiwan will experience chilly conditions throughout Friday, with daytime temperatures not expected to exceed 20 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, central and southern regions could experience significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, with nighttime lows predicted to fall to 12 degrees in central Taiwan and 14 degrees in southern Taiwan. Daytime temperatures are forecasted to reach 22 degrees in central Taiwan and 24 degrees in the southern parts.
Chang further explained that after Saturday daytime through Monday, temperatures across Taiwan are expected to gradually rise, with notable differences between day and night temperatures in the western regions. Nighttime temperat
ures are anticipated to drop to between 13 and 16 degrees, while daytime highs could reach 24 to 25 degrees in northern Taiwan, and even 26 to 27 degrees in central and southern areas.
The forecast also predicts generally cloudy to sunny skies across the country through Sunday, with the exception of scattered showers in eastern Taiwan. Chang added that on Monday, the Keelung north coast, Greater Taipei area, and the eastern half of Taiwan may experience sporadic showers.
Looking ahead to Tuesday through Thursday, seasonal northeasterly winds are expected to bring sporadic showers to northern and eastern areas. Another wave of seasonal northeasterly winds is predicted to strengthen on December 6, though Chang indicated that further observations are necessary to determine its potential impact.
