In the period from March 6th to 8th, the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Mr. Mei was led by 12 industrial conglomerates including the Industrial Association and attended the "European Union Industrial Cluster Exchange Activities" held at the Global Industrial Exhibition in Lyon, France. A total of 22 industrial gatherings from all member countries were also invited. The two sides will use this platform to conduct direct dialogue and mediation, and the interaction will help to seek and deepen the substantive cooperation between the two sides in the fields of innovation and R&D.
In his opening remarks, Wang said that the EU is Taiwan's fifth largest trading partner and the largest source of foreign investment, and its bilateral economic and trade relations are close. Europe is a leader in innovative technology and sustainable concepts. Taiwan is good at manufacturing and the two sides complement each other in industrial cooperation.
Since 2016, the Ministry has held the EU industrial settlement exchange activities for three consecutive years, assisting the two parties to establish cooperative relations through the European industrial settlement platform, and signed the "Taiwan EU Industrial Settlement Cooperation Agreement" in 2018, laying an important foundation for future expansion of cooperation.
Director Slawomir TOKARSKI of the Innovation and Advanced Manufacturing Division of the European Union Growth Agency said that industrial settlement cooperation is a key driver of economic growth and innovation and internationalization of SMEs. Taiwan is a strategic partner of the EU's industrial settlement cooperation. It is hoped that the two sides will continue to strengthen cooperation to enhance bilateral economic, trade and industrial cooperation.
At present, the EU industry cluster has begun cooperation in the fields of small satellites, micronanoelectronics, 5G R&D and cosmetics. The two sides are expected to hold the 5th EUChina Industrial Dialogue Conference this year. It is expected that the abovementioned exchange activities will be discussed.
