For the first time in Asia Pacific, Makita Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd., owner of the world-class power tool brand 'MAKITA', has announced the full use of plastic product strapping film made from post-consumer plastic.Makita Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd., owner of the world-class power tool brand 'MAKITA', announced the use of innovative stretch film containing post-consumer-recycled resin (PCR) for the company's product transportation. This new technology is a collaboration between Dow Thailand Group (Dow) and MMP, a stretch film manufacturer. The film has the same quality as new plastic, but can reduce waste by more than 5 tons per year. This innovative stretch film contains 30% post-consumer plastic, but still maintains the same clarity and efficiency as traditional stretch films, and can also be recycled.Mr. Hideaki Kurono, Managing Director of Makita Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said that concerns about global environmental pollution caused by plastic waste leaking into the ocean h ave led to social movements to reduce the use of single-use plastics. MAKITA has therefore reduced the amount of single-use plastics used and has started using stretch film mixed with used plastics. If it is well received by customers and does not affect the logistics process, there is a plan to expand the use of this new film.Mr. Ekasit Laknanitiphan, Director of Low Carbon Business and Development, Dow Thailand Group, said that the film uses Dow's REVOLOOP recycled plastic mixed with PCR pellets, which have been certified to world-class standards by the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), both in terms of traceable raw material sources and the quality of recycled plastic that meets the requirements.
