Three Chinese aircraft breach Taiwan’s ADIZ

Three aircraft from China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) breached Taiwan’s air defense identification zone (ADIZ), Wednesday with one reconnaissance aircraft flying deep into the southern and southeastern part of the ADIZ, according to the Ministry of National Defense (MND).
The Republic of China (ROC) Air Force scrambled fighter jets to warn away the intruding aircraft – two JH-7 bombers and one Y-8 type reconnaissance aircraft – and locked onto them with air defense missiles, the MND said.
The MND has provided real-time updates of incursions by PLA aircraft since Sept. 17, 2020.
According to data compiled by the MND, PLA aircraft incursions were highly concentrated in October last year, with 38 breaching the nation’s ADIZ on Oct. 1, 39 on Oct. 2, 16 on Oct. 3, and 56 on Oct. 4 — the highest number since the MND started making such information public.
The highest number of intruding aircraft recorded this year was 39, on Jan. 23, followed by 30 on May 30 and 29 on June 21, the data showed.
On July 8, the MND condemned China for harming regional peace and stability after saying its warplanes “intentionally breached” the median line of the Taiwan Strait.
