Singapore--Three restaurants in Taiwan have been included on the 2017 Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list sponsored by Italian mineral water brands San Pellegrino and Acqua Panna.
RAW in Taipei, a collaboration between Singapore-based Taiwanese chef Andre Chiang (???) and the Hasmore Restaurant Group, made it onto the list for the second time and was ranked 24th, an improvement over its 46th ranking last year.
Le Mout, a French restaurant in Taichung, was placed 28th after ranking 30th last year.
The third Taiwanese establishment to be listed, MUME in Taipei, was ranked 43rd. MUME specializes in Western cuisine.
The list, published by William Reed Business Media, is based on a vote by more than 300 chefs, restaurant owners and food connoisseurs from six countries across Asia.
This year, Indian restaurant Gaggan in Bangkok retained its No. 1 position for a third consecutive year.
Restaurant Andre, a French restaurant operated by Andre Chiang in Singapore, came in second, up from third place last year.
Singapore and Japan each had nine restaurants on the list, compared with eight for Thailand. Hong Kong had seven, Taiwan and South Korea each had three, while China, Sri Lanka, India and Macau each had two. The Philippines and Indonesia each had one.
