Thunderstorms Forecast in Taiwan Due to Passing Weather Front: CWA

Taipei: A frontal weather system is set to pass through Taiwan on Saturday, bringing scattered showers or thunderstorms to the northern and eastern regions, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).

According to Focus Taiwan, CWA forecaster Huang En-hung indicated that localized short-term showers or thunderstorms are expected north of central Taiwan and in eastern areas on Saturday. The rain is predicted to subside after nightfall.

On Sunday, scattered short-term showers are anticipated in Hualien and Taitung counties, along with mountainous areas of central and southern Taiwan. Other regions may experience isolated rainfall before the weather turns partly cloudy or sunny. A similar weather pattern is forecast from Monday to Wednesday, with easterly winds bringing scattered showers to Hualien and Taitung on Monday and Tuesday, while other areas are likely to remain mostly cloudy to sunny.

Another weather front is predicted to approach Taiwan on April 23-24, leading to an increased likelihood of short-term showers or thunderstorms in central and northern Taiwan, with other regions possibly experiencing scattered rainfall.

Temperature highs are expected to reach 24-26 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan, Yilan, and Hualien on Saturday, with lows of 19-21 degrees. Central and southern regions, along with Taitung, are forecast to have highs of 28-31 degrees and lows of 21-24 degrees. Huang noted that the weather will become warmer from Monday, with highs around 30 degrees and lows of 21-23 degrees across Taiwan.
