Taipei-Budget airline Tigerair Taiwan, a subsidiary of Taiwan's China Airlines, on Thursday launched direct flight services between Taoyuan and Komatsu, its 10th destination in Japan.
The maiden flight was 90 percent full and with passengers greeted with celebratory events and local souvenirs at Komatsu Airport in western Honshu.
Tigerair Taiwan said it will fly two round-trip flights per week between the two cities using an Airbus A320.
Outbound flights will depart Taoyuan International Airport at 7 a.m. on Thursdays and 10 a.m. on Sundays, while the return flights will leave Komatsu Airport at 11:45 a.m. on Thursdays and 3:35 p.m. on Sundays.
The airline currently flies to 10 Japanese destinations, including Tokyo Narita, Tokyo Haneda, Nagoya, Osaka, Okinawa, Hakodate, Sendai, Fukuoka, Okayama and now Komatsu.
Starting in March, the carrier will introduce flights between Taiwan and Asahikawa, Ibaraki and Hanamaki in Japan.
