TSMC Leaders Recognized with Prestigious Robert N. Noyce Award

Taipei: Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) Chairman and CEO C.C. Wei, along with the company's former chairman Mark Liu, have been announced as the co-recipients of the 2025 Robert N. Noyce Award. This accolade is regarded as the highest honor within the semiconductor industry.

According to Focus Taiwan, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), which presents the award, revealed in a statement that the Noyce Award acknowledges individuals who have made significant contributions in technology or public policy to the semiconductor sector. Wei and Liu are set to accept the award at the SIA Awards Dinner, scheduled for November 20, 2025, in San Jose, California.

Wei has been with TSMC since 1998 and ascended to the roles of chairman and CEO in June 2024, following Liu's retirement as chairman and co-CEO. Liu, who joined TSMC in 1993, recently joined the board of directors at U.S.-based DRAM chip supplier Micron Technology Inc. in March 2025.

Under the leadership of Liu and Wei, TSMC has solidified its position as a central figure in the global semiconductor supply chain. The company has achieved numerous technological advancements that have significantly influenced computing performance, power efficiency, and global supply chains.

SIA President and CEO John Neuffer praised the contributions of Wei and Liu, stating, "Dr. C.C. Wei and Dr. Mark Liu are titans in our industry, having reshaped the modern semiconductor ecosystem -- both in the U.S. and abroad -- and revolutionized chip manufacturing technology."

In the statement, Wei expressed his honor in sharing the recognition with Liu, while Liu acknowledged the support from mentors, colleagues, and partners in his journey. Both leaders highlighted the importance of inspiring future generations of industry leaders.

The Noyce Award is named after Robert N. Noyce, a pioneering figure in the semiconductor industry and co-founder of Fairchild Semiconductor and Intel Corp.
