Jakarta (ANTARA) - The construction of twin towers in the National Monument (Monas) area, Jakarta, is part of a plan to make the area the new city center amid the shifting of the national capital to Nusantara, East Kalimantan.State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir made the remarks at the inauguration of Danareksa Tower here on Friday. "We have a big dream that when the Nusantara city is (complete), of course, the value of state-owned enterprise assets (in Jakarta) must be improved. Like this (SOEs Office) building, after the move to Nusantara city, could be that this is demolished and (turned into a) new complex as per Jakarta's plans," the minister added. Minister Thohir said that he understood the need for Jakarta to prepare Monas area as a new city center. Hence, he expressed his support for the initiative to improve the value of state-owned enterprise assets near the area. There are three high-value SOE assets located in the south of Monas area, including the State-Owned Enterprises Ministry's building, Danareksa Tower, which was renovated recently and inaugurated, as well as the BSI Tower, which is currently undergoing renovation, he noted. The Danareksa and BSI Towers have been designed as twin towers that would improve Monas' position as a city center at a later time. The minister urged Danareksa to push SOE assets near Monas area, including those belonging to Pertamina, to prepare a Property Fund. "Danareksa will seek for the scheme under which the ownership is still with each (SOE)," he said. Jakarta's effort to improve Monas area is a plan that needs to be supported by many, according to Thohir. The development of Nusantara city should not mean Jakarta's progress should cease, he added. In the Jakarta acting governor's blueprint, there is a plan to make Monas area green again. The minister further said that the area will come up as a very interesting exclusive area with Monas at its center. "As comparison, it will be like in New York or London. There will be big city garden here; it will be like that," he added.
