Chiayi: The eye of Typhoon Danas made landfall in Chiayi County's Budai Township in southwestern Taiwan at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA). As of 12 a.m. Monday, the eye of the typhoon was located 30 kilometers west southwest of Chiayi and was moving in a northeasterly direction at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour (kph), CWA data showed.According to Focus Taiwan, the typhoon was packing maximum sustained winds of 144 kph, with gusts reaching up to 180 kph. The typhoon's storm circle has already enveloped Penghu, areas south of Miaoli, as well as Nantou, Taitung, and Hualien counties, posing a threat to all of Taiwan and the Penghu Islands, the CWA stated.Wind and rain continue to affect southern Taiwan and Penghu, while central Taiwan is also experiencing increasing wind and rainfall.
