Taipei: The U.S. dollar rose sharply against the Taiwan dollar Monday, gaining NT$0.105 to close at NT$31.580.

According to Focus Taiwan, turnover totaled US$2.216 billion during the trading session. The greenback opened at the day's low of NT$31.510, and rose to a high of NT$31.648 before the close.
