Taipei, Budget carrier VietJet Air has announced that it will start offering direct flights between Taichung in central Taiwan and Hanoi from June 22 to meet increased demand.
The route will have five return flights per week every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the airline said.
The flight will depart from Hanoi at 1 p.m. and arrive in Taichung at 4:30 p.m., while the return flight will take off at 5:30 p.m. and land in Hanoi at 7:20 p.m.
The new route will meet the demand of local people and tourists and contribute to regional trade, according to the carrier.
The service will be the seventh Taiwan-Vietnam route operated by VietJet, which already flies between Taipei and Kaohsiung to Hanoi, and from Taipei, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung to Ho Chi Minh City.
VietJet operates the largest number of Taiwan-Vietnam flights, running 52 round-trip flights per week.
According to Taiwan's Tourism Bureau, there were 947,000 visits between both countries in 2017, up 43 percent from 2016.
