Vietnamese Trio Investigated for Illegal Cosmetic Surgery in Taichung

Taichung: Taiwan's National Immigration Agency (NIA) said Tuesday it has broken up an illegal cosmetic surgery ring led by a Vietnamese woman surnamed Han in central Taiwan.

According to Focus Taiwan, the NIA's Changhua County Specialized Operation Brigade revealed that Han, who had approximately three years of work experience in cosmetic medicine in Vietnam, had been acquiring cosmetic injection products online. She conducted procedures such as double-eyelid and rhinoplasty surgeries on other Vietnamese nationals in Taiwan.

Han, along with a Vietnamese man surnamed Tr?n, rented a small apartment in Taichung's Wuri District to carry out these illegal surgeries. Tr?n, who had amassed around 80,000 followers on social media, was self-taught in cosmetic techniques. He teamed up with Han and her cousin, surnamed Nguy?n, to form a three-person team.

The group not only performed these operations but also live-streamed them and advertised their services on social media platforms. Investigators noted this as a significant part of their operation.

Officers from the Changhua County Police Department collaborated with the NIA in a raid conducted in September. During the raid, they apprehended the Vietnamese nationals as they were preparing to perform a rhinoplasty procedure on a customer.

The NIA stated that the case has been forwarded to the Taichung District Prosecutors Office on suspicion of violating the Physicians Act.
