Four absconded Vietnamese workers were arrested by police in Kaohsiung Friday, two of whom were found to be in illegal possession of weapons and drugs, according to local police.
The four were detained during a police raid on a residence for foreign workers in the city's Daliao District, police at the Gushan Precinct said.
The police said they acted on a tipoff that the house was frequented by many foreign workers, several of whom seemed to be migrant workers who have run away from their employers.
Among the four arrested, one surnamed Nguyen was caught to be concealing a pistol, while another was discovered to be carrying a small packet of amphetamine, according to police.
The case was handed over to Kaohsiung prosecutors for further investigation following an initial police probe on charges of breaching the Statute Governing the Control Over Guns, Ammunition, Knives and Weapons and the Statute for Narcotics Hazard Control.
