Warm Weather in Taiwan to Conclude on Thursday as Rain Front Approaches

Taipei: The Central Weather Administration (CWA) has forecasted the end of the recent warm and sunny spell in Taiwan, with a weather front set to bring rain starting Thursday.

According to Focus Taiwan, the CWA forecaster Chang Chung-chuan explained that Wednesday will see sunny conditions persist, with temperatures in western Taiwan ranging from 28 to 31 degrees Celsius. However, the approaching front is expected to cause sporadic rain and thundershowers in northern Taiwan by Thursday night.

The CWA predicts that this weather front will bring rain across the country from Thursday through Sunday. Northern and central Taiwan are likely to experience heavier rain on Thursday, with northern Taiwan continuing to see significant rainfall on Friday and Saturday. Other regions could face localized showers and thundershowers during this period.

Furthermore, a cold mass is projected to impact Taiwan starting Saturday, lasting until March 20. Temperatures are set to decline beginning Saturday night, continuing into Sunday. In northern Taiwan, temperatures will drop from 17 degrees Celsius in the morning to between 12 and 14 degrees at night. Central Taiwan temperatures will decrease to 14 degrees, with southern Taiwan experiencing lows of around 16 degrees.

Chang anticipates the coldest temperatures on the morning of March 18, potentially falling below 10 degrees in some northern areas, though highs may reach 18 degrees. Central and southern Taiwan could see lows of 12-14 degrees, with daytime highs of 18-19 degrees and 20 degrees respectively. The possibility of snow exists for mountains exceeding 3,000 meters in northern and central Taiwan on Sunday and Monday.
