Taipei-The weather across Taiwan will warm up on Sunday as a strong cold air mass that sent the mercury to record lows across the country in recent days weakens, according to the Central Weather Bureau.
The lowest temperature of 6.3 degrees Celsius in flatland areas early Sunday morning was recorded in Chiayi, followed by 8 degrees in Taichung City, 8.6 degrees in Hsinchu City and 11 degrees in Taipei City and Tainan City, bureau data showed.
Temperatures will gradually rise across the country during the daytime, with highs in northern and eastern Taiwan expected to hit 21-22 degrees while highs in the south will range between 22-24 degrees, the bureau said.
However, the weather will turn wetter from Monday to Wednesday as a cloud system approaches despite higher temperatures, the bureau forecast, urging the public to pay attention to sharp changes in temperatures in early morning and at night.
From Thursday to Sunday, a wave of northeasterly winds will approach Taiwan and will likely bring brief showers to northern and northeastern Taiwan, the bureau said.
